Maxi Dresses Come out on Top at the NTA’s

The NTA’s (national television awards) is the events to pull out all the stops if you are a television star…. And this year was no different, with fabulous dresses and beautiful people showing off the latest styles. Of course though, some celebrity styles stop the show and others flopped.
One trend that did seem to emerge is block colour and maxi dresses! Hardly any stars opted for a short dress, but maybe this was due to the cold.
The maxi dresses of the event were glamourous satin and chiffon designs with block colours.
Holly Willoughby, Myleene Klass, Stacy Soloman, Heidi Range, Jessie Wallace, Jade Ewan and Kerry Katona all stole the show with fabulous floor length dresses.
Not only do maxi dresses look amazing, they can create glamour so effortlessly. They look much less tacky than shorter dresses and can be dressed up or down.
So make sure you are ready for the 2011 spring/summer season by choosing which celebrity style maxi dresses you want to have.

Style of Maxi Dresses

With a new year comes new trends and with maxi dresses still dominating the fashion world, expect to see some variations on the basic dress shape develop as the year goes by.

Already to report is a longer skirt, called the maxi skirt. These are sure to be big in in the summer for the girls who want style and comfort. Although these kind of skirts are nothing new, there is going to be a twist on the maxi skirt for girls who wish to show a bit more leg. Yes you guessed it, long skirts with a split up the leg are going to be huge this spring!

This will no doubt transfer into maxi dresses and what a lovely style that will be?! Showing a bit of leg will be perfect for night time, weddings or even in the day if you are feeling abit adventurous.

Other trends that we will see is modern couture, which will be plain t-shirts (black or white) with a real bold neon coloured skirt. This is fabulous if you want comfort in your outfit but still want to be the fashionista amongst your friends.

Tropical prints are making a huge impact and this will transpire onto maxi dresses, maxi skirts and all over summer wear.

So be bold, be gutsy and bring some bright colours into your life that you normally wouldn’t think about. Especially if you require comfort but still want to stand out that little bit more than you normally would with plain maxi dresses.

Maxi Dresses on Sale

With the January sales literally right on our doorstep, now is the right time to to check out the maxi dresses on sale. This is a great time to stock up on summer clothes, as all of the summer stock will be discounted more than the current winter trends.

Some great places to start with is right on our local high street, all major retailers will be having sales starting on boxing day. Although this is typically a VERY busy time to head into your town but missing out could mean you are missing out on getting some great bargains.

Probably a better idea is too check out the high street retailers sale that the have in their online shop. This will let you browse their collections without getting pushed and shoved all over the place and give you an idea on what maxi dresses are on offer. The only issue with doing this is you will not be able to try on the dress before you buy it, so you may end up having to send back the dress.

You can avoid this issue by ordering a selection of dresses and try them on at home. Kind of like you normally would in a shop but you instead are getting them delivered to your house. The benefits of this are no crowded changing rooms, you can try the dress on with accessories and take your time to decide if it is right for you.

If you have no luck buying off the high street like many people do when it comes to maxi dresses then there are some great opportunities where you can get a bespoke maxi dress. If you choose this option you will not have to worry about busy shops or clothes not fitting. It is minimum stress with a brilliant end result. So if you have a special holiday planned or an event then why not treat yourself, rather than waiting for maxi dresses on sale.

Well, this is the problem with ordering online, you can not try before you buy. This may turn into a very drawn out process by the time you have ordered, returned and ordered different sizes or styles.

Most people actually know what kind of style and design suits them. This comes from the many years of shopping but also recognizing pictures of celebrities who you think you are similar too.

Maxi Dresses for Tall Women

One of the hardest thing about Maxi Dresses is getting the right length and this is even harder to achieve if you are classed as ‘tall’. Funnily enough though, maxi dresses probably compliment taller women more than anyone else and so obtaining that perfect dress should be much easier than it is.
There are some specialist stores that make longer clothes but the designs will be limited and maybe not you cup of tea. So what are your options?

Petite Maxi Dresses

I know so many women who would love to wear a maxi dress but feel they can not because they are classed as ‘petite’. Getting the exact size maxi dress is very hard, no matter what size you are but do not give up hope. Just because you are classes as shorter than normal, this does not mean you can still look very elegant and benefit from all the great things maxi dresses have to offer.

I hear a lot of petite women say that they are worried they will look like they are wearing a tent and be drowned by long dresses. But, if you get the right proportioned dress there is no reason why you can not look at glamorous as a 5’10 model.

There are many high street stores and manufacturers that cater for petite women, so to find a maxi dress would not be that big of an issue. You may, however have issues with the limited designs. But, you can overcome this by having your maxi dress made to measure.

This is easily the best choice if you struggle to get any clothes to fit, and it is cheaper than you think. The problem with just getting standard maxi dresses taken up, is that the rest of the dress will then not be in proportion and that is when you will look like you are wearing a tent. Trust me, I have seen this happen.

I will keep my ears to the ground and pass on any information that I come across to do with petite maxi dresses, so please stay tuned and visit regularly.

Maxi Dresses for Weddings

To help celebrate the wedding of a family member or of a special friend, you will need to find that perfect dress, and what better style to consider than a versatile maxi dress.

Weddings are such long days, so you will want to wear something comfortable and something that will look just as good in the evening as it did during the day. There are many styles, fabrics and colours that will suit everyone, so you will easily be able to find a dress that suits you.

Maxi dresses have risen in popularity the last few years, because of their versatility and comfort. They also give off the image of gorgeous laid back glamour. Anyone who has seen maxi dresses in style magazines or online will be able to relate to this glamour, and it is the perfect image to have when attending a wedding.

Casual, laid back glamour and being comfortable should be your main aim for the day and we can help you achieve that.

The only issue is with maxi dresses is that ‘off the hanger’ clothes sometimes do not fit very well. This happens a lot to me and it really gets me down, especially when you find that perfect dress. Another concern is that they can be costly, with popular silk or chiffon fabrics costly in the hundreds of pounds. But when it is your friends or loved ones special day, nothing but the best will do.

With a little bit of preparation this can be avoided and you can end up with a gorgeous maxi dress for a wedding using the finest materials that fit you like a glove. Continue reading to find out more…..

Welcome to Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses have risen up in popularity over the past couple of years and this popularity is set to keep on growing.

I often wondered what the fuss was a bout them. Pictures of celebrities wearing them became more common and this soon crossed over into high street stores. I got my first maxi dress in 2008 and instantly understood why they are one of the most popular dress styles in the summer.

Cool, comfy, elegant and classy, these are some of the many positive words that you can use to describe the versatile dress. This makes them suitable for all occasions, from laid back day wear and even for your wedding dress.

This blog will hopefully be a good source of information for maxi dresses, and provide you with inspiration, and ideas. Please feel free to leave a comment or drop me an email.
